LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange (17-6, 11-3 CCS) women's basketball hits the road for the final time during the regular season as they elevate their game, literally and figuratively, as they head nearly 3,000 feet up Lookout Mountain to take on Covenant (7-16, 4-10 CCS) on Wednesday, February 15. Game time is set for 5 p.m. in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
The Panthers are coming off a three-game week that saw them go 2-1, including a 74-59 blowout of league-leading 20-1 Berea (2/10), preceded by a 73-61 victory over Piedmont (2/7). Their three-game win streak would be upended as Belhaven (2/11) crashed the party with an 82-67 victory. The Scots, meanwhile, have lost six of their last eight and just snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominant 86-29 victory at Wesleyan (2/11).
Entering the game LC is tied for the fourth most victories in a single season in the NCAA DIII Era, trailing the 2010-11 team that went 20-5. The 2011-12 club went 19-9 with the 2009-10 (18-8) and 2015-16 (18-9) squads each winning 18 games. The Panthers are tied with 2001-02 (17-11), 2014-15 (17-10) and 2016-17 (17-10) for the fourth most and a win over Covenant would move them to a tie for third all-time.
ALL-TIME SERIES
LaGrange leads the all-time series 20-6 dating back to a 63-41 loss on November 25, 2000. From there they would go on to win 13 of the next 14 over the next 17 years before Covenant claimed three of the next four through February 9, 2019. Since then the Panthers have claimed six of the last seven, including a 73-59 victory on February 12, 2022 in Lookout Mountain, Georgia and a 75-50 decision at Mariotti Gymnasium on January 17.
