PENSACOLA, Florida—LC overcame a slow start to down the Eagles of Pensacola Christian College on Saturday 81-69.
The Panthers (3-2) found themselves down by 10 midway through the first period, but soon hit their rhythm and turned things around.
Less than 10 minutes later, LC was up by 10 and led 39-34 at the half.
"I'm proud of how our team battled after getting off the bus on a long road trip," said Head Coach Jasen Jonus. "We started off slow but finally turned it around on the defensive end and got much needed stops that propelled us to the win."
After the break, the Panthers came out aggressively and controlled the ball, outscoring the Eagles 23-14 in the third period.
The fourth started with things at 63-48, and although the Panthers cooled a bit, the balance sheet was too much for the Eagles to overcome.
LC was led in scoring by Gracie Brunel with 13 points, Skylar Edwards with 11 and Laila Battle with 10.
The team continues to display strong depth with 41 points coming from the bench.
Amanda Mclendon led the squad with a powerful 16 rebounds, followed by 7 apiece for Brunel and Edwards.
"I was really happy with our effort on the glass and our offensive rebounding," Jonus said. "It was a total team effort, and it feels good to get a win before the break."
The Panthers' next outing is set for Nov. 27 against Oglethorpe at home.
