Message from Assistant Director of Sports Information Trevor Wenners: Interested in getting to know the ins and outs of what make your favorite LaGrange College student-athletes tick? Starting on July 31, we will be unveiling our Meet-Your-Panther series. Our dedicated and loyal fans will be able to get an up-close look at the personalities and dreams of our student-athletes.
Morgan Grant is always ready to seize an opportunity.
The 5-foot-10 forward on the LaGrange College women's basketball team made numerous positive things happen in limited minutes during her rookie season in 2019-20.

The highly-skilled student-athlete has a versatile skill set, high basketball IQ and is a tremendous team defender. Grant does an outstanding job establishing rebounding position, while taking high-quality shots and moving without the ball well. Grant is a throwback player in the sense that she can score from a multitude of locations on the floor, including in the paint, the mid-range game and from beyond the 3-point line.
Most importantly, she has a high motor and never takes plays off on either end of the floor.
"I learned early on during my freshman year that I had to have a stronger mentality because everything is taken up a few notches," said Grant. "I had to accept that I would have bad games and practices but staying mentally strong allowed me to move past that and work on my weaknesses."
The Midway, Alabama, native averaged 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per game off the bench. She appeared in 21-of-26 games and shot 12-for-25 from the floor and 2-for-4 on 3-pointers.
Grant announced her arrival to the collegiate stage with a breakout performance against Bridgewater State on Dec. 30. She finished with seven points, two rebounds and a steal in 11 minutes, going 3-for-3 from the field and 1-for-1 on 3-point shots.
The young woman finished with another seven-point effort, going 3-for-4 from the field and 1-for-1 from 3-point range, in seven minutes during an 81-69 win at Wesleyan on Jan. 28.
Grant has lofty goals for the rest of her collegiate career. She was kind enough to engage in a Q&A segment on a variety of topics.
Q: After getting your feet wet as a freshman, how do you envision your game evolving over the next few years?
A: As I get more experience and continue working, my overall game will improve, and I will contribute more to our team. I see my consistency growing, as I put more time and effort into my own performance.
Q: What are your career aspirations?
A: My majors are pre-engineering and business, with a minor in math. After LaGrange, I will finish my civil-engineering degree at Auburn. I hope to become an architect and one day open my own firm.

Q: What are the keys to making an immediate impact off the bench in the middle of a game?
A: That was a big change for me to learn how to come in off the bench and be ready to play at all times. College basketball is much more fast-paced than high school, so learning to prepare myself for when my name was called was a big part of the game. In college, we may only get one chance to prove ourselves, so we must take advantage of every opportunity.
Q: Who is your favorite female athlete?
A: Lauren Chamberlain.
Q: Who is your favorite WNBA player?
A: A'ja Wilson.
Q: What is more rewarding, scoring a basket or pulling down a difficult rebound in traffic?
A: Pulling down a difficult rebound.
Q: Would you rather block a shot or steal the ball?
A: Steal the ball.
Q: Defense or offense?
A: Defense.
Q: Panthers' Instagram or Twitter?
A: Instagram.
