FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - The LaGrange golf team is sixth after the first round of the Royal Lakes Invitational. The Panthers shot a 6-over par 294, 11 shots back of leader Greensboro in the 22-team field. LC trailed by as many as 21 shots, before shooting 6-under over the final nine holes.
The Panthers' top four scorers were freshmen. Eli Rogers shot an even par 72 and is tied for 22nd in the individual standings. Starting his round on the 10th hole, Rogers was three over par through 10 holes. He birdied three of the next five holes, then finished the round with three straight pars.
Garrett Armbrust and Jeremy Edmunds each had 1-over par rounds of 73. Edmunds had a team-leading four birdies on his round. Martin Prlender had a round of 76, followed by sophomore Gage Driskell, who shot an 83.
The tournament concludes Tuesday.
