LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange men's golf will continue to take on some of the best teams in the nation as they head to the Wynlakes Invitational, a 54-hole event featuring four nationally ranked opponents and four others receiving votes in a 14-team field, from March 27-28 in Montgomery, Alabama.
That tournament will be played at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club and will feature 78 competitors with the entire field teeing off at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 27. The Panthers will start on Hole No. 10 with tee times for Tuesday, March 28 to be determined by tournament standings.
The 2023 edition of the tournament features four teams in the Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches Poll, including No. 5 Wittenberg, No. 7 Piedmont, No. 11 Washington & Lee and No. 12 Huntingdon. Additionally, Berry, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Rhodes and Whitworth are receiving votes in latest poll. The field is rounded out by Birmingham-Southern, Centre, Dallas, Greensboro and Webster.
This year's tournament will be played on Wynlakes Black, a 200-acre championship course that winds through rolling hills, 14 shimmering lakes and large oaks with dangling moss. Beautifully manicured fairways and greens, colorful landscaping, and strategically placed fountains and bridges make each hole a splendid visual experience.
Designed by world renowned architect Joe Lee and opened in 1986, the course was renovated by Billy Fuller and re-opened in 2006 with diverse course design features such as sculptured fairways, plentiful bunkers, and plateau greens.
Representing LaGrange will be freshmen Garret Armbrust (Woodstock, Ga.), Jeremy Edmunds (Charlotte, N.C.), Martin Prlender (Cordoba, Argentina), Eli Rogers (Athens, Ga.) and Park Ward (Columbus, Ga.).
Fans can follow live scoring throughout each round of the tournament and full results and recaps will be available on www.LaGrangePanthers.com, the official online home of Panthers Athletics, following the completion of each day's action.
