JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – In the largest field in the country, featuring the best teams in the country, freshman Jeremy Edmunds (Charlotte, N.C.) made his mark with a tremendous Day 2 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, March 18. As a team the Panthers have produced rounds of 303 and 294 to remain tied for 18-of-30 with a score of 597 through 36 holes.
Edmunds delivered a tremendous performance as he shot a four-under par 68 to jump up 26 spots and into a tie for 10-of-150 with a score of 142. That round tied for the third lowest of the day behind a 66 from Kenyon's Logan Spiess and a 67 by No. 1 Christopher Newport's Alex Price, who also leads the field.
He was followed by fellow freshman Martin Prlender (Cordoba, Argentina) with a 72-73-145 over the first two rounds, good enough for a tie for 26th. Freshman Park Ward (Columbus, Ga.) was the next highest finisher with an 80-73-153 to tie for 96th.
No. 3 Emory continues to lead the field with a 558 with No. 5 Carnegie Mellon (567), No. 1 Christopher Newport (573), No. 14 Guilford (574) and No. 2 and defending national champion Methodist (579) rounding out the top five.
The Panthers wrap up the tournament with the final 18 holes at 9:28 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, March 19 and fans can follow live scoring throughout the day.
