RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace took down LaGrange 16-12 in a USA South game Saturday. The Panthers slipped to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Selassie Richardson and Aidan Story had three goals each for the Panthers. Ben Bryan and Michael Poteete had two goals apiece. The Pacers (5-3, 2-1 USA South) got a game-high five goals from Devin Noonan.
The Pacers took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. Poteete got the Panthers on the board with two minutes left in the period. Bryan tied the game 2-2 with his first goal with 10 seconds left.
In the second period, Story gave LC its first lead with a goal in the first minute. William Peace answered with four straight goals to take a 6-3 lead. Story's goal stopped the Pacers' run but Noonan's goal made it 7-4 at halftime.
Story and Bryan opened the scoring in the third quarter to get the Panthers within a goal. Once again, the Pacers ran off four straight goals to go up 11-7 and led 13-8 heading to the final period.
Richardson opened the fourth quarter scoring for LC. Poteete and Jack Bryan scored 23 seconds apart as the Panthers crept within two, 13-11.
Nick Falso gave the Pacers a 15-11 cushion with back-to-back goals. Richardson closed out his day and the scoring for LC with his third goal with 3:24 left. The Pacers added a man-up goal for the 16-12 final.
The Panthers host Brevard in a USA South game next Saturday at 2 p.m.
