Greensboro used a big third quarter to defeat LaGrange 16-4 in a USA South game Saturday on Senior Day at Panther Stadium. The Panthers, playing their first full season after two straight partial ones, finished 7-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play. The Panthers' lone senior, Brennan Oates, was recognized before the game.
"Very proud of what we achieved this season, even with the loss today we can hold our heads high knowing we gave everything we had!" said Coach Brandon Sewell. "Our program is headed in the right direction and next year we plan to take the next step and compete for a conference championship."
Greensboro (10-6, 6-3 USA South) led 7-3 at halftime. Jack Bryan had a first period goal, then Selassie Richardson scored back-to-back goals to get LC within two, 5-3 four minutes into the second. The Pride broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 8-0 to build a 15-3 lead. Aidan Story's goal off an assist from Bryan closed out LC's scoring.
Isaac Bohrer had 19 saves in goal for the Panthers.
