MISENHEIMER, N.C. – LaGrange (7-8, 3-4 USA South) could not keep up with USA South power and high scoring Pfeiffer (14-1, 7-1 USA South) as they fell 24-8 in an NCAA Division III men's lacrosse game on Saturday, April 22.
The Falcons would waste no time as they scored five of the six goals in the opening period, with Jesse Ondrako scoring the first three before they would put up another six in the second quarter. That onslaught would see J.P. Galloway assist on the first two and score another for an 11-2 halftime lead.
Sophomore attackman Ryan Comeau (Canton, Ga.) would get the offense going for the Panthers at the start of the third as he assisted on a score by fellow sophomore attackman Andrew Brown (Metairie, La.) before drilling home one of his own over the first 4:39. It would be to no avail, however, as Pfeiffer matched those and then scored four straight, three consecutive by Galloway, to stretch to a commanding 17-4 margin.
Freshman attackman Luke Young (Acworth, Ga.) would get one back before the quarter break but it would be the exception to the rule as Pfeiffer out scored LaGrange 7-3 over the final 15 minutes to polish off the 24-8 victory.
The tandem of Galloway and Ondrako would do the majority of the damage as they combined for 10 goals and five assists. It would be almost an even split with Galloway finishing with five goals and three assists and Ondrako notching five scores and a pair of assists.
Quinn Becraft followed with three goals and an assist and Zach DeFazio registered three scores. Tyler Finley rounded out the offense with four assists to go with five groundballs and Nate Woodhill played the first 36:47, allowing just four scores while making four saves. He improves to 14-1 on the season.
Young would lead the way for the Panthers with four goals and Comeau would come away with a goal, three assists and three groundballs. Brown and senior midfielder Jack Bryan (Carrollton, Ga) would each deliver a goal and an assist and senior midfielder Ben Bryan (Carrollton, Ga.) accounted for the other score.
Freshman defenseman Wade Young (Acworth, Ga.) led the defense with four groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers and senior goalkeeper Isaac Bohrer (Fayetteville, Ga.) played the first 31:08, making 18 saves and allowing 17 groundballs. He falls to 5-8 on the year.
