Men’s Soccer: Panthers ready to make noise in the USA South

The LaGrange College men's soccer team kicks off its 2021 season Saturday with a non-conference game against Pensacola Christian at 6 p.m. in Pensacola, Florida.

The Panthers play their first home game on Saturday, Sept. 18, with a 2 p.m. start against Averett on Panther Field. LC opens its conference schedule on Saturday, Sept. 25, as the Panthers travel to Berea for a 2 p.m. game.

LaGrange is set to play 13 record-counting games, with six going toward its USA South record. The program plays six regular-season home games and will host senior-day festivities on Sunday, Oct. 24, prior to a 2 p.m. match against visiting Warren Wilson.

Head Coach Ryan Dickson enters his fourth season at the helm of the program. He guided the Panthers to USA South Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019. The 2021 group consists of 20 returning student-athletes and eight newcomers. You can learn about Dickson, Volunteer Assistant Coach Kaine Baker and the 28 players below.

Ryan Dickson:

During Dickson's tenure, the 2018 team finished with 10 wins, the most for the squad since the 1993 season and tied for the third most in a single season in program history. The 2019 unit set a program record with 16 USA South points.

Kaine Baker:

Baker enters his second season assisting with the program. The Marietta, Georgia, native was a terrific defender for the Panthers from 2016-19, appearing in 43 games and making 24 starts. He earned a bachelor's degree in sports management from LaGrange in 2020.

1 Lucas Wright:

Wright started all six games in net and logged every minute in goal for the Panthers during the spring 2021 season. He recorded a season-high nine saves at Covenant on March 20.

Evan Sampers:

During his first three years in a Panther uniform, Sampers appeared in 36 games and made 20 starts. He recorded a two-goal performance, featuring his first collegiate goal and the game-winning tally in double overtime, during a 2-1 win at Methodist on Sept. 14, 2019.

3 Jordan Coppola:

Coppola made his collegiate debut during a 5-0 triumph over Toccoa Falls on Sept. 11, 2019, at Panther Field. He has appeared in four games off the bench during the last two seasons.

Nicholas Smiech:

The Fayetteville, Georgia, native tallied his first collegiate point with an assist in a 3-2 season-ending win over Piedmont at Panther Field on March 26. Smiech made his college debut and tallied a shot against visiting Maryville on March 7.

5 Alex Drazic:

Drazic was named to the USA South All-Conference West Division second team during the spring 2021 season. The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native netted his first collegiate goal at Millsaps on Aug. 30, 2019.

6 Satchel Hart:

Hart registered his first collegiate point with an assist during a 5-1 win over Berea at Panther Field on Feb. 28. He started all six games and recorded four shots during his rookie campaign.

Enrique Hernandez:

Hernandez was named to the USA South All-Conference West Division first team last spring. He led the team in goals (5), points (12), shots (38) and shots on goal (17), while sitting in a tie for first in assists (2). The LaBelle, Florida, native recorded a hat trick during a 3-2 season-ending win over Piedmont at Panther Field on March 26.

8 Kolby Mercer:

Mercer made his collegiate debut against Huntingdon at Callaway Stadium on Feb. 13. The McDonough, Georgia, native played on three regional championship teams at Union Grove High School.

Jaydon Parrish:

During his first two years in a Panther uniform, Parrish recorded two goals and three assists. He represented LaGrange on the spring 2021 USA South All-Sportsmanship team.

10 Asher Hendon:

The Lakeland, Florida, native appeared in 59 games and made 54 starts during his first four years wearing the Red and Black. He finished with three goals during the 2019 season and two in 2018. Hendon served as a team captain in the spring 2021 season.

11 William Perry:

Perry enters his first year as a Panther student-athlete and will be playing in the midfield and on the offensive end. He played soccer at Winder-Barrow High School.

12 Blake Webb:

The Zebulon, Georgia, native was named to the spring 2021 USA South All-Conference West Division first team. During the 2019 season, he was named the conference's Rookie of the Week twice and ranked in a tie for fifth in the USA South in assists (8).

13 Joao Santos:

Santos buried his first collegiate goal in a 5-0 win over visiting Toccoa Falls on Sept. 11, 2019. He found the back of the net against Berea at Panther Field on Oct. 13, 2019.

14 Austin Anderson:

The Sharpsburg, Georgia, native posted his first goal with the Panthers during a 5-1 victory over Berea at Panther Field on Feb. 28. He made his LC debut and put a shot on net against visiting Huntingdon on Feb. 13.

15 Dawson Davis:

Davis registered a two-assist performance, with the initial one being his first collegiate point, during a 6-0 triumph at Warren Wilson on Sept. 23, 2018. During his three-year collegiate career, he has played in 34 games and made 11 starts.

16 Serik Rosencrants:

Rosencrants has appeared in six games off the bench during his Panther career. He tallied his first collegiate shot during a 5-0 win over Toccoa Falls at Panther Field on Sept. 11, 2019.

18 Alex Tucker:

Tucker has suited up in 11 games off the bench for the Panthers. The Conyers, Georgia, native tallied his first collegiate shot in a 4-2 triumph at Toccoa Falls on Sept. 11, 2018.

19 Jared McGregor:

The Orange Park, Florida, native has played in three games off the bench for LC. McGregor tallied his first collegiate shot on goal in a 5-1 win over Berea at Panther Field on Feb. 28.

20 Michael Haase:

Haase enters his first year as a Panther, suiting up as a defender and studying business and sports management. At East Coweta High School, he was a high honor-roll student.

21 Ricky Hammett:

The Fernandina Beach, Florida, native made his collegiate debut against Maryville at Panther Field on March 7. Hammett appeared in three games off the bench as a rookie and tallied his first collegiate shot at Covenant on March 20.

22 Gabe Miller:

Miller fired three shots, with two being on target, during a 3-2 season-ending win over Piedmont at Panther Field on March 26. He started all six games during the spring 2021 season and made his collegiate debut against visiting Huntingdon on Feb. 13.

23 Sean Carter:

Carter is ready for his first season in a Panther uniform. He will play midfield and forward, while studying exercise science. The Ellenwood, Georgia, native was a four-year varsity letter winner in soccer at Woodland High School, earning Academic Excellence and Henry County All-Region honors.

25 Robel Teshome:

Teshome begins his first season with LC and will play midfield. He played high school soccer at Grayson.

28 Bryant Sanchez-Mora:

The goalkeeper from Buford, Georgia, is ready to make an impact in his first season for the Panthers. Sanchez-Mora won a region championship and maintained a career goals-against average of 0.50 at Mountain View High School.

30 Nicholas Missert:

The Sandy Springs, Georgia, native enters his rookie season and will suit up on defense. Missert played soccer at North Springs High School.

31 Andrew Cole:

The freshman goalkeeper from Rochester Hills, Michigan, is ready to make an immediate impact. Cole played high school soccer at Starr's Mill.

33 Graham Peruski:

The freshman from Newnan, Georgia, will be a defender for LC. Peruski played soccer at East Coweta High School.

36 Noah Stanford:

Stanford has appeared in 22 games and made one start during his time with the Panthers. He scored his first collegiate goal in a 6-0 win at Warren Wilson on Sept. 23, 2018. Just over a month later, the Bremen, Georgia, native tallied his first assist at Brevard.
