Berry edged LaGrange 2-1 in a non-conference game Sunday at Panther Field. The loss left the Panthers 5-3-1 on the season, while the Vikings upped their record to 4-1-3.
"I was really proud of our guy's performance and effort in the second of two hard fought games on back-to-back days," said Coach Ryan Dickson. "Unfortunately, we didn't get the result today, but we'll hold our heads high with how we played. Now we'll turn our attention to a big conference game against Huntingdon on Wednesday."
Both teams were playing their second game in as many days. LC tied Maryville 1-1 on Saturday, while Berry lost 3-0 at Sewanee. The Vikings had a 18-6 shot advantage, including 9-3 edge on shots on goal. Panther goalkeeper Andrew Close had seven saves in the game.
Senior Enrique Hernandez opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Hernandez got his 12th goal of the season off an assist from Matthew Webb. The Panthers took the lead into halftime.
In the second half, Berry scored two quick goals in the first five minutes. Dylan Bloch got the tying goal, then assisted on Nate Dulin's go-ahead goal two minutes later.
From there the Vikings were able to make the goals stand up. Viking keeper Jose Palacios turned away Blake Webb's potential game-tying shot in the 87th minute.
