LaGrange celebrated Senior Day with a 2-0 win over Berea in a Collegiate Conference of the South game at Panther Field on Saturday. The Panthers improved to 3-0-1 in conference play and 8-4-1 overall.
Seniors Dawson Davis, Alex Dravic, Enrique Hernandez, Jared McGregor, Gabe Miller, Jaydon Parrish, and Blake Webb were recognized before the game.
"It was great to get a 2-0 result and carry on our good form in conference play," said Coach Ryan Dickson. "We didn't play our best but this part of the season is all about getting results. It was even more special for our seven seniors finish out the game together."
The Panthers dominated the game statistics. They outshot Berea (7-4-3, 1-2-1 CCS) 25-6, limiting the Mountaineers to just one second half shot. LC had a commanding 12-2 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Cole recorded his fifth clean sheet of the season. The shutout makes Cole the Panthers' career leader with seven. He had to make just two saves in the game.
After a scoreless first half, LC got on the board in first minute of the final half. Nicholas Smiech flicked Zechariah Brothers' corner kick over to Satchel Hart, whose shot found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Hart's first of the season.
Hernandez finished the scoring in the 81st minute. He headed in Robel Teshome's long pass past Berea keeper Eris Acosta to up the lead to 2-0. It was Hernandez's NCAA Division III leading 17th goal of the season.
The Panthers continue conference play Tuesday at Piedmont.
