Enrique Hernandez's hat-trick and one assist, with the help of the fantastic goalkeeping play by Andrew Cole, pushed the Panthers past Point, 5-1.
The first half of the match was a tight one between the two teams. Although the Panthers had more possession time on the Skyhawks side of the field, each team was trading shots. In the 38th minute, Enrique Hernandez took a great shot from in front of the net to put the Panthers up 1-0. Andrew Cole's ability to stop anything near him and direct the defense made him a standout player in the first half. He saved multiple goals and even had to come out of the box to stop Point from tying up the score. The Panthers were up 1-0 at the end of the half.
After a few great moves juking out two Point defenders, Enrique Hernandez found William Perry at the top of the box for him to knock in a great goal only five minutes into the second half. Not even four minutes later, Hernandez scored his second goal of the game to put the Panthers up 3-0. In the 60th minute, the Skyhawks found the net to bring the score to 3-1. In the 72nd minute, a great Panther pass found Hernandez on the left side of the net for him to hit a bar-in goal. With this, it put LC up 4-1 and solidified Hernandez's hat-trick for the night. In the 88th minute, William Perry found Dylan Bailey to score the final goal of the game. The Panthers won 5-1.
In other news, with his outstanding performance in goal against Birmingham-Southern, Andrew Cole was nominated as defensive player of the week for the Collegiate Conference of the South this past week.
