On a dreary day at Panther Field, the Men's Soccer team made their own sunshine with a 4-0 win over Centenary. It was the team's third-straight win in as many attempts so far this season.
"The guys played very well today," said Head Coach Ryan Dickson. "I was very pleased with how we defended and worked to keep a clean sheet. On the other end of the pitch, we created several chances and finished them well."
Three Panthers led the scoring during the match: senior Enrique Hernandez, sophomore William Perry and freshman Lucas Duke.
Coming off his naming as Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Week, Hernandez continued to shine with one goal in each period, both assisted by Perry.
Hernandez had seven shots, three on goal, and also assisted Duke with his first-half goal.
The match's other score was made by Perry seven minutes into the second period and was assisted by Blake Webb.
The Panthers outshot their opponent 17-7.
"We have several attackers who can score goals and cause defenders trouble," said Coach Dickson," so I know we will create problems for teams going forward."
The team's next match is against University of the Ozarks on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m. at Panther Field.
