Following the 3-0 defeat against Oglethorpe on Wednesday (Sept. 13), the Panthers look to secure a win against Pensacola Christian on Saturday (Sept. 16), at 6 p.m.
Matchup-
Right now, Pensacola Christian is 5-0 on the season with their most recent victory being a crushing 5-0 shutout win over Toccoa Falls. Forward Niwe Mugeni leads the Eagles with four goals and two assists on the season. Currently, LC is 2-3 on the season. The biggest victory of the season was a 5-1 win over Point. In that match, Enrique Hernandez secured his first hat-trick of the year and also accounted for an assist. Last time the two teams played, the Panthers won 3-0 on Sept. 3, 2022 but over the last six, both times have three wins. This year's matchup should be very competitive.
What to watch for-
One of the things to watch for this weekend is if LC can continue their superb goalkeeping play. Andrew Cole has been the starter for the Panthers so far, but in the last match against Oglethorpe he left with an injury. Right now, it is unknown if Cole will be able to return for this match. Douglas Halsema came in to replace Cole and had an impressive seven saves in the second half against Oglethorpe. Another thing to pay attention to is if the Panthers can capitalize on their opportunities. In the last match against Oglethorpe, the Panthers had a chance to score a couple times but high shots or shots taken from too far out left LC scoreless.
