The Panthers return home to take on the Blazers at Panther Field at 5 p.m. (Oct. 13).
The Match
The Panthers are 5-6-1 (3-2 in the CCS) and are coming off a 3-1 loss to Berea (Oct. 7). In the game against the Bears, LC accounted for 16 shots versus Berea's eight. Although it was great for the team to double the amount of opportunities than the Bears, Berea was able to finish their chances, which carried them to the win. Forward Enrique Hernandez still leads the Panthers in points with 20 on nine goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Matthew Webb leads the team in assists with seven. The Blazers are 5-2-4 (2-0-1 in CCS play) and most recently lost to Covenant 1-0 (Oct. 7). Freshman forward Wesley Bloodworth leads Belhaven in points with seven in 2023. Last time the two teams played, the game ended in a 2-2 tie (Oct. 15, 2022).
What to watch for
One thing to watch for is how the team will look to finish their chances in this week's game. They have been able to control the ball on the opponent's side of the field, but at times have not been able to get a score. While the Blazers will be a tough match, the Panthers home record is 3-1 this year. It will be interesting to see how the Panthers can continue this home field advantage. This is the second to last home game of the year, so come out and cheer on LC!
When and where to watch
The game is at Panther Field this Friday (Oct. 13) and begins at 5 p.m.
