Wear your red Panther gear to show your LaGrange College pride in the opening in-conference match against Maryville on Sept. 23, at 4 p.m.
The matchup-
Currently, Maryville is 3-2-3 on the season. Two teams both Maryville and LaGrange College have played this season are Spalding and Centre. Maryville beat Spalding 3-0 and Centre 2-0 and LC beat Spalding 3-2 and lost to Centre 0-3. While previous games do not translate to automatic wins or losses, it does give fans an understanding of how both teams played that weekend against the same teams. The Panthers are 2-3-1 in 2023 and are looking to start CCS in-conference play with a big win against a tough squad.
Players to watch-
One Panther to pay attention to is forward Enrique Hernandez. This season, he leads the team in points with four goals and one assist. Something that stats do not show is Hernandez's blazing speed and great ball control. Seeing him play is must-watch sports entertainment. Another player to watch for is who will be in the goal for the Panthers this week. Andrew Cole was having a fantastic season in goal until he left the Oglethorpe game (Sept. 13) with a leg injury. Both senior Douglas Halsema and sophomore Daniel Bojcic have filled the role nicely, but it is still a question mark about who will play this week. The Scots freshmen forward Hyatt MacDonald is a player to pay attention to for Maryville. In his exciting first-year for the Scots, he leads the team in goals with five. In their eight games, he has a goal in five, so watch to see how the Panthers defense can try to shut him down.
Where and when-
Support the men's soccer on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. at Panther Field. The football team also plays Saturday against Huntingdon at 1 p.m. Both games are red-outs, so wear your red Panther gear.
