After winning two games and posting a shutout during a 2-0 week for the LaGrange College men's soccer team, freshman goalkeeper Andrew Cole took home USA South Defender of the Week honors Monday.
Cole made a game-high five saves and earned the shutout for the Panthers (6-4, 2-2 USA South) during a 1-0 non-conference win at Mississippi University for Women Saturday. During a 2-1 conference triumph over Piedmont Wednesday on Panther Field, the Rochester Hills, Michigan, native earned the victory and stopped three shots.
Cole has recorded two shutouts during his rookie season, as he blanked Berea with a three-save performance during a 3-0 USA South triumph on Sept. 25 in Berea, Kentucky. He has started six straight games for LaGrange and only allowed eight goals for an impressive 1.30 goals-against average.
The Panthers will take on Huntingdon in a conference showdown Tuesday, starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time in Montgomery, Alabama.
