BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard used its 3-point shooting to down LaGrange 80-62 on Saturday in Boshamer Gym. The Panthers fell to 8-10 on the season, while the Tornados improved to 9-6.
"We really struggled to get going on the offensive end early in the game. We couldn't get a shot to fall and Bevard couldn't miss," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "You just can't dig yourself a hole like that when you play on the road. I thought the second half we were much better. Our defensive intensity was better and we did a nice job of executing offenses."
Lauren Johnson led LC with 18 points. Marilauren Farr and Riley Chlupacek each had 8 points. Annalee Bollinger had a game-high 22 points for Brevard.
Brevard had 13 3-pointers in the game, while the Panthers made just 3-of-15 treys. The Tornados led 26-10 after the first quarter and took a 44-21 lead into halftime. LC got going in the second half, scoring 41 of their 62 points.
"We must find a way to get all the players playing well on the same night for all four quarters," Buchanan said. "In this league you must have a short memory because we play again in less than 24 hours."
The Panthers play at Maryville in a USA South game Sunday.
