Visting Averett took both games of a USA South doubleheader from LaGrange on Sunday at the LC Softball Complex. The Cougars took the first game 10-1 in five innings and completed the sweep with a 9-2 win in the second game.
Amber Arnold accounted for the Panthers' run in the first game. The freshman hit her second home run of the season in the fourth inning. Emily Barrs and Adrienne Little each had a hit for LC in the game.
In the second game, Kelsey Dietz hit her first home run of the season to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Averett (15-13, 7-3 USA South) took the lead with two runs in the fifth inning, then broke the game open with five runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
The Panthers will play USA South doubleheaders at Methodist on Saturday and at Meredith on Sunday.
