DECATUR, Ga. - LaGrange scored a combined 27 runs in sweeping Agnes Scott in a USA South doubleheader Saturday. The Panthers (9-19, 8-12 USA South) won by 17-3 and 10-2 scores over the Scotties (0-28, 0-20 USA South).
Game 1
Adrienne Little's grand slam home run capped a seven-run sixth inning for the Panthers. LC set season highs with the 17 runs and 17 hits. Emily Barrs had three hits, including a pair of doubles, scored three runs and drove in two more runs. McKenzie Brunel also had three hits and two RBIs. Michaela Keel had a two-run double in her only at-bat. Chelsea Twardoski pitched four innings to get the win. She allowed the three runs, but none were earned, walked none and struck out four. Emily Cauldwell and Katelyn Little both threw a scoreless inning of relief.
Game 2
Sydney Hodorff had three hits, including a double and a home run, and four RBIs as the Panthers completed the sweep. The Panthers never trailed, scoring three runs in the first inning. Hodorff's two-run home run in the third upped the lead to 5-0. It was Hodorff's first home run of the season. LC added a run in the fourth, three more in the fifth, and closed out the scoring with a run in the sixth. The Panthers finished with 11 hits. Barrs was a perfect 3-for-3, finishing 6-for-7 in the two games. Jessica Perkins pitched the first three innings to pick up her first win of the season.
The Panthers play a USA South doubleheader at Wesleyan on Sunday.
