LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange (0-13, 0-7 CCS) women's tennis closed out the 2023 regular season as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Point (3-10, 2-8 CCS) in an NCAA women's tennis match on Monday, April 24.

Played under NCAA Division I rules, where doubles awarded just one point for taking two of three, the Skyhawks took the early 1-0 lead with a pair of victories at the top of the order. Senior Karson Troth (Marshall, Mo.) and freshman Abigail Fuller (Newnan, Ga.) fell 6-1 to Lauren Perez and Destinie Claggion at No. 2 before junior Journey Oden (Boaz, Ala.) and senior Kirsten Boyd (Alabaster, Ala.) dropped a 6-2 decision to Jenny Zaipen and Ana Olana at No. 1.

The Panthers would take the lead at the start of singles play as they picked up a pair of forfeit victories from the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. They would not be able to capitalize on that, however, as Point powered through the next four matches for a 7-0 victory. The closest of those would be a 6-2, 6-2 loss by Troth to Olana at No. 3.

UP NEXT

The Panthers will now head to the inaugural Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament (CCS), with this year's tournament being played at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia on the campus of Berry College. LaGrange will face 2023 regular season champion and No. 1 seed Piedmont on Thursday, April 27 with first serve set for 2 p.m.
