Conway, Ark.—Competing in their first match at the Hendrix Invitational, the Panthers came up short against Lyon College, losing 3-0.
Lyon pulled ahead early in the first set, and LC couldn't catch the Fighting Scots (25-8). The next two sets followed a similar pattern: The Panthers took the lead early, only to have the Scots overtake them (25-14; 25-15).
"With having 16 practice days under our belt, 9 Freshmen 1 Transfer and 4 returners, we are still getting the freshmen jitters out--along with getting that familiarity with one another on the court," said Head Coach Moneshia McKenney. "As the ladies continue to trust the process, we head in a positive direction with the program."
Zentrina Choice and Jharia Harris led the team with five kills each and one ace apiece. Bailey Moss contributed 13 digs, while Harris had nine. Vianca Colon Gonzalez offered six assists, followed by Alexis Childers' four.
LC continues competition at the invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10, facing East Texas Baptist at 11 a.m. and Hendrix at 1 p.m.
