Conway, Ark.—In their final two matches at the Hendrix Invitational, LC took two losses: one against East Texas Baptist University, and the other versus Hendrix.
"The Ladies had a well-fought match against the top team in the tournament!" said Head Coach Moneshia Mckenney. "They stayed neck-and-neck each set, while having injuries we couldn't foreshadow. The team stayed in the fight!
In the first match, the women battled a strong offense that featured 16 service aces. Combined with some Panther errors, the team lost 7-25, 14-25 and 14-25.
Teishawna James led the team with five kills, followed by Jharia Harris with four and Zentrina Choice with one. Bailey Moss had a team-high 17 digs, followed by Alexis Childers' five and Rhaya Harwell's three.
In the second match, the Panthers kept it close in the final two sets, but allowed Hendrix to pull away. The final totals were 12-25, 19-25 and 21-25.
In the second, the Panthers were down by one at 17-18, before letting the game slip away. In the third set, LC led by 19-16 before giving way.
Harris led the team with eight kills, followed by James with five and Childers with two. Moss had 16 digs, followed by Harris with 12 and Shania Espada with 7.
The team is scheduled to face Coastal Georgia College on Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Richter Gymnasium.
