The Panthers dropped their first match 3-0 to Berea but fought to win over Wesleyan 3-2.
The Panthers played Berea in the first game of the day. The first set was close throughout, but the Bears were able to pull away to win 25-22. The second set was the Bears all the way, they won 25-25. The third set looked much better for the Panthers. They were even tied at 22-22, but the Bears were able to pull out the 25-22 win. The Panthers dropped the first set 3-0.
The second match for the Panthers was against home team Wesleyan. The first set was a very competitive match as both teams were neck and neck until the end. After some great teamwork, the Panthers were able to claw past the Wolves to win the first set 26-24. The Panthers started the second set off hot. They went up to a quick 7-1 lead, so the Wolves called a timeout to try to slow down the Panthers. It was not enough and the Panthers crushed the second set 25-13. The third set was a much more competitive battle. Although the Panthers stayed in it, the Wolves won 25-21. At this point the Panthers led the two sets to one. The fourth set also was a very close until the end. The Wolves were able to pull out the 25-20 victory to force a fifth set. The fifth set containued to be a close fight but the Panthers just had a enough to push past the Wolves.
The Panthers next game is on Wednesday (Sept. 27) against College of Coastal Georgia. The match is at 7 p.m. and can be streamed here.
