LC volleyball season comes to an end today after dropping the postseason match to the Hawks 3-0 (Nov. 7).
In the first set, LC got off to a quick 2-0 lead after a great block from Olivia Dusterdeick stuffed the Hawks spike. Huntingdon then went on a 7-0 run which forced a Panther timeout. Despite being down early, LC continued to battle against the host Hawks. Each team began to trade points and the Panthers brought the score to 11-8, but the Hawks were able to hang on to win 25-15.
The Hawks carried their momentum into the second set and got off to a fast lead. Senior Journey Oden hit multiple of her patent powerful spikes but it was not enough to keep up with the Hawks. Huntingdon won the second set 25-9.
Zentrina Choice played very well at the net in the third set. She and Haleigh Redden made some big-time blocks to keep the score close in the first ten points scored. Although the Panthers were down two sets, they continued to play together as a team. LC even went on a run to tie the set at 24-24. The Hawks offense ended up doing just enough to beat the Panthers 26-24.
What's next
This is the final match of the 2023 season. Some of the players will return to compete for the LC beach volleyball team this upcoming spring.
