LaGrange returns to action Friday with a USA South game at Piedmont in the Walker Athletic Complex. Game time is 7 p.m. The Panthers (0-4, 0-1 USA South) have not played since a 8-6 loss at Huntingdon on March 18.
"We're looking forward to this matchup. Piedmont is the reigning conference champion, and this game will be a big test for us," said Coach Brandon Sewell. "The guys have been locked in at practice, so we'll be prepared and up for the challenge."
Piedmont (2-4, 2-0 USA South) went 0-4 in its non-conference schedule. The Lions have dominated their two USA South games, beating Brevard 26-2 and Huntingdon 22-2.
Brothers Avery and Brady Jenks lead Piedmont with 15 goals each. Brady Jenks has seven goals in the two USA South wins. Avery Jenks has five goals and six assists in the conference games. Overall, the Lions have 19 players with at least one goal.
Sophomore Isaac Bohrer is ranked among the USA South leaders in goal. Bohrer is fifth is save percentage (53.4), first in goals against (27), and fifth in goals against average (10.8). He has 31 saves, including a season-high 12 against Huntingdon.
Sophomore Tareyon Delgado has seven goals to lead LC. Sophomore Jaxon Crews, freshman Kyro Holland, and freshman Michael Poteete all have three goals. Junior Jack Bryan leads the team with four assists. Sophomore defender Nathaniel Moore is the team leader in ground balls (16) and caused turnovers (9).
This is the first of two meetings with Piedmont. The two teams meet in Callaway Stadium on April 18. The Panthers host Brevard on April 6 at 4 p.m. and play at Brevard on April 11.
