The LaGrange College women's basketball team has unveiled its 27-game 2021-22 schedule, as the Panthers will begin their season with a two-day tournament on Nov. 6-7 against Oglethorpe and Berry at Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia.
The slate includes 11 home games, 11 road contests and five neutral-site tilts. The Panthers will compete in 16 USA South contests and two road exhibition games against NCAA Division I opponents in Lipscomb and Mercer on Dec. 8 and 31, respectively.

"We are thrilled to begin working toward the 2021-22 season and getting the kids back on campus," said LaGrange College women's basketball head coach Jasen Jonus. "We built a strong foundation during our abbreviated season last year and are looking forward to taking the next step in our process during a full season of competition. We have intentionally put together a strong non-conference schedule in the hopes that we will peak during our conference games and into postseason play."
The schedule features seven games in November, seven in December, eight in January and five in February. LaGrange will compete in its home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 10, with a 6 p.m. tipoff against Emory in Mariotti Gym.
During the 2021 portion of the schedule, the Red and Black will compete in three road USA South games, traveling to Berea on Nov. 20, Agnes Scott on Dec. 1 and Huntingdon on Dec. 11.
All 13 games during the 2022 portion of the schedule will be conference contests, with eight taking place in Mariotti. LC will begin the year with four consecutive home games, playing host to Wesleyan on Jan. 3, Covenant on Jan. 7, Brevard on Jan. 8 and Huntingdon on Jan. 12.

The Panthers will renew their rivalry with Maryville, the defending USA South West Division champion, on Jan. 15 and Feb. 5. The two teams met in the first round of the tournament last year in Maryville, Tennessee.
The dates of Jan. 22 and Feb. 9 should also be circled on your calendar, as the Panthers will battle with West Division-powerhouse Piedmont. The Lions earned the No. 1 seed in the West Division tournament last season and won USA South titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
LaGrange will host Berea on Feb. 6 in Mariotti. The Mountaineers did not compete last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but won conference in 2020. The last meeting between the Panthers and Mountaineers was a thriller, as visiting Berea won, 76-74, in overtime on Feb. 2, 2020.
"From top to bottom, we are expecting a tough West Division this year," said Jonus. "Maryville, Piedmont and Berea are elite programs in our region and the other teams have improved dramatically. No game is going to be easy, and we need to bring a winning mindset every night."
During Jonus' first season at the helm of the program in 2020-21, the Panthers opened with eight straight wins and earned the No. 3 seed in the West Division tournament, the highest finish by the team since the conference went to the West and East Division format in 2016-17.
Jahpera McEachin '21 and Jalaya Lewis were named to the USA South All-Conference West Division first and second team, respectively. On Jan. 25, McEachin became the first Panther to earn USA South Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors since Marilauren Farr '19 accomplished the feat on Nov. 19, 2018.
