MARION, Ala. - LaGrange opened its 2015 season with a sweep of Judson on Friday. The Panthers came from behind to win the first game 9-7 and completed the sweep with a 10-4 victory in the second game.
The Panthers had 30 hits in the two games. Dani Gravett, Adrienne Little, and Brooke Turner all had four hits on the day. Little had two doubles included in her hits and drove in six runs.
Gravett started the first game on the mound for the Panthers. She allowed six runs, five of those were earned, while walking three and striking out five.
Kara Patterson (1-0) got the win in relief of Gravett. She pitched the final three innings, giving up a run in the fifth. She escaped a bases loaded jam in the seventh to seal the win.
The Panthers wiped out a 2-0 deficit with a five-run fourth inning. Turner and Little drove in the first two runs with run-scoring singles. Christy Flick's sacrifice fly scored Olivia Wolfe, who had walked.
Breanna Wallace's single brought in Turner with the fourth run. Little scored on a passed ball to up the Panthers' lead to 5-2.
The Eagles answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead, 6-5.
The Panthers came back with four runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good. Turner tied the game with an RBI single. Little followed with her second hit of the game to put the Panthers up 7-6. Flick capped the inning with a two-run single to pad the Panthers' lead.
In the second game, Wolfe went the distance on the mound. She allowed the four runs on four hits, while walking four and striking out seven.
The Panthers had six doubles included in their 18 hits. Little had four RBIs to go with her two doubles.
The Panthers got a run in the first and three more in the third to take a 4-0 lead. Alison Jiles had an RBI double in the first inning. In the third, the Panthers loaded the bases and Little cleared them with a double to left field.
In the sixth, the Panthers put the game out of reach with five runs to go up 9-0. Flick opened the inning with a single and later stole home for the first run. Emily Barrs kept the inning going with a two-out RBI single. Wolfe and Turner followed with run-scoring hits and Little closed out the inning with another double to drive in Wolfe.
Lindsey Hogan doubled with one out in the seventh. Gravett drove her in one out later with a double to right center for the 10-4 final score.
The Panthers play a doubleheader at Wesleyan in Macon, Ga. on Sunday.
