No. 21 Averett remained unbeaten on the season with a sweep of LaGrange in a USA South doubleheader Saturday at the LC Softball Complex.
The Panthers are now 12-10 overall and 7-7 in conference play, while the Cougars improved to 24-0-1 and 14-0 in the USA South.
Averett won the first game 11-0 and completed the sweep with a 15-4 five-inning victory in the second game.
In the first game, the Panthers were held to three hits by Mary Beth Smith (13-0). Alison Jiles had a double for the Panthers.
Olivia Wolfe (6-7) pitched the first four innings of Game 1, surrendering two run on five hits. Dani Gravett allowed five runs, four earned, in two innings of work. Kara Patterson gave up four runs in the seventh.
Wolfe started the second game also. She was touched for seven runs, five earned in 1-2/3 innings. Patterson, Lea Porter and Emily Caudwell followed Wolfe.
The Panthers had six hits in the second game, with Emily Barrs having two of them and an RBI.
The Panthers host Greensboro on Sunday in a USA South doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
