The LaGrange College women's basketball team opens its 2010-11 season Tuesday. The Panthers will host Emory University at 6 p.m. in the Mariotti Gymnasium.
The Panthers, under fourth-year head coach Mark Isenhour, were 18-8 last season and finished second in the GSAC regular season standings. The 18 wins set a school record.
The Panthers return six lettermen from last season. Sophomore wing Katie Covington was the GSAC Freshman of the Year and earned GSAC All-Conference honors. Covington averaged a team-leading 12.9 points per game. Fellow sophomore wing Heather Miller was a GSAC All-Conference and All-Freshman selection last season. Miller averaged 12.8 points per game.
The Panthers defeated Emory 66-53 last season in Atlanta. Emory holds a 5-2 lead in the series, including a 3-1 record at Mariotti.
