LaGrange College ran its record to 3-0 with wins over Virginia Wesleyan, and tournament host Methodist at the 2010 InnKeeper Turkey Shootout in Fayetteville, N.C
Sophomore wing Katie Covington was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Covington had double-doubles in both games. She had 35 points and 21 rebounds in the tournament.
Covington was joined on the all-tournament team by junior point guard Elizabeth Williams. Williams had nine assists and nine rebounds in the tournament.
The Panthers opened the tournament Saturday with a come-from-behind 73-60 win over Virginia Wesleyan. The Panthers trailed 30-26 at halftime before outscoring the Marlins 47-30 in the second half.
Covington led the Panthers with 15 points and tied for game-honors with 11 rebounds. Sophomore wing Heather Miller had 14 points.
The Panthers finished the tournament Sunday with a 68-43 win over host Methodist. The Panthers led 34-23 at halftime and continued to build on the lead in the second half.
Covington led all scorers with 20 points. She was 10-for-11 at the free throw line. Alex Wilson added 12 points.Wilson made 4-of-5 3-point attempts.
The Panthers had a record three players in double-digits for rebounds. Kiah Britton had a game-high 12 rebounds, while Covington and Holli Vann had 10 each.
The Panthers host Covenant on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
