MACON, Ga. - LaGrange swept Wesleyan in a USA South doubleheader Thursday. The Panthers (4-4), playing for the first time since March 8, run ruled the Wolves (6-8) in both games, winning 10-2 in six innings and 9-1 in five innings.
Game 1
The Panthers banged out 12 hits, including a two-run home run by Sydney Hodorff, in winning 10-2. Hodorff, who also had a double, was one of four LC players with two hits. Brittany Todd had two doubles, scored two runs, and drove in another two runs. Taylor Long, in addition to her two hits, scored three runs and had three stolen bases. Michael Keel had two hits and an RBI. Emsley Smith (2-3) went the full six innings. Smith gave up the two runs, five hits, walked five and struck out four.
Game 2
LC completed the sweep with the 9-1 win. Kaitlin Redmon drove in three runs with two hits, including a double. Long had a double included in her two hits. She scored four runs and had another two stolen bases. Long is a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen bases and leads the USA South with a .556 batting average. Todd went 2-for-2 in the game with an RBI. Payton Thomas (1-1) got the win, allowing an unearned run, seven hits, walking two, and striking out two.
The Panthers play at Covenant on Saturday in a USA South doubleheader.
