LaGrange and Agnes Scott split a USA South doubleheader Monday at the LC Softball Complex. The visiting Scotties (5-23, 2-8 USA South) won Game 1 13-1 in five innings, then the Panthers (7-11, 3-7 USA South) bounced back with an 8-0 win in five innings in Game 2.
Game 2
Emsley Smith (4-6) threw a 3-hit shutout to help LC gain a split of the doubleheader. The Panthers gave Smith all the runs she would need with a five-run first inning aided by three Scottie errors. Lauren DeLoach had an RBI single and Michaela Keel's sacrifice fly brought home Haley Coleman with the final run of the inning. Madelynn Formby drove in three runs with a single and two ground outs. Taylor Long and McKenzie Brunel each had two hits. Brunel had a double included in her hits.
Game 1
Agnes Scott got a grand slam from Michaela Dailey and a three-run home run from KayLeigh Fitzgerald in winning Game 1. The Panthers were held to two hits. Long had an RBI single and DeLoach had the other hit. Payton Thomas (2-4) took the loss for LC, allowing 13 runs, with six being unearned.
The Panthers play USA South doubleheaders at Brevard and Greensboro on Saturday and Sunday.
