BEREA, Ky. - LaGrange used big innings to sweep Berea 5-3 and 10-3 in a USA South doubleheader Saturday. The two wins evened the Panthers' season record at 14-14 and they finished 9-7 in conference play.
Game 1
The Panthers did all of their scoring in a five-run first inning. Sydney Hodorff hit a three-run home run to start the scoring. It was her team-leading third of the season. Riley Densmore capped the inning with a two-run double, her first hit of the season in limited appearances. Brittany Todd had two hits, including a double. Haley Coleman added a double. Ansley Brown (2-0) went the distance on the mound. Brown scattered eight hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out three.
Game 2
LC started the game with three in the first, then broke the game open with a six-run run fourth inning. The Panthers had 13 hits in the game, with Taylor Long going 4-for-4 and scoring two runs. Michaela Keel had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Densmore had two more hits and two RBIs. The Panthers had seven stolen bases in the game, with Long and Brittany Todd having three each and Kelsey Dietz the other. Payton Thomas (6-5) threw the second straight complete game for LC. Thomas allowed five hits, walked five and struck out two.
The Panthers close out the regular season with a non-conference doubleheader at Judson on Tuesday.
