ATLANTA, Ga. - Emory took both games of a non-conference doubleheader from LaGrange on Sunday. The Eagles (12-4) won by scores of 6-1 and 6-3. The losses left the Panthers 6-6 on the season.
Game 1
Emory built a 4-0 lead through two innings. The Panthers' lone run came in the sixth. McKenzie Brunel tripled with one out and scored on Madelynn Formby's ground out. Emsley Smith (3-4) went the distance for LC, with three of the runs being unearned.
Game 2
The Panthers fell behind 5-0 after three innings. LC got all three of its runs in the fifth inning. Kaitlin Redman's double drove in the first run of the inning. One out later, Taylor Long capped the inning with a two-run double to make it 5-3. Emory added an insurance run in the sixth for the 6-3 final score. Payton Thomas (2-2) took the loss for LC, allowing five runs in three innings. Kristina Calixto gave up a run in three innings of work.
The Panthers host Huntingdon in a USA South doubleheader Thursday beginning at 5 p.m.
