GREENSBORO, N.C. - Greensboro took both games of a doubleheader Sunday from LaGrange. The Panthers (9-13) lost 12-3 and 8-0 to The Pride (20-12).
Game 1
Greensboro built an 8-0 lead after three innings. The Panthers did all of their scoring in the fifth inning. Michael Keel doubled with one out and Karli Whitaker entered the game as a pinch runner. Taylor Long's two-out single scored Whitaker with inning's first run. McKenzie Brunel reached on a bunt single and Brittany Todd cleared the bases with her second double of the game to make it 8-3. The Pride scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the eight-run rule. Emsley Smith (5-7) took the loss for LC, allowing three runs in an inning of work.
Game 2
The Pride completed their sweep with a five-inning shutout. The Panthers were held to one hit. Long led off the game with a bunt single but was caught stealing. Payton Thomas (3-5) allowed six runs, four earned for LC.
The Panthers host Wesleyan in a USA South doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m.
