MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon rallied to beat LaGrange 6-3 on Saturday in the deciding game of the USA South Tournament first round series. The Panthers finished the season 16-17, while the Hawks improved to 30-13.
The game was the final one for LC seniors Kelsey Dietz, Carolyn Harkness, Sydney Hodorff, and Michaela Keel. Dietz and Hodorff each had two hits in the game, Keel added a hit, and Harkness scored a run.
The Panthers grabbed a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Hodorff drove in the first run with a double in the third, then Haley Coleman had a two-out two-run double in the fifth. Huntingdon came back with three runs in its half of the fifth to tie the game. The Hawks pushed across three more runs in the sixth to go up 6-3. Payton Thomas took the loss for the Panthers, allowing five runs, only three earned, in five innings of work. The Panthers finished with 10 hits, with Taylor Long leading the way with three.
