JACKSON, Miss. - LaGrange completed a 3-0 weekend with an 8-3 win over the University of Dallas at Millsaps College's Twenty Field. The Panthers are now 9-1, while the Crusaders slipped to 4-5.
LaGrange banged out 15 hits. Joe Pradat had four hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Blake Butcher hit his second home run of the season. Tavin Thompson, Casey Bell, Billy Peatross, and Cain Sauls all had two hits.
Andrew Weekley pitched seven strong innings to improve to 2-0. He allowed a run on five hits, walked none and struck out six. Jonathan Fleckenstein gave up two runs in an inning, while Austin Perez pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Peatross had an RBi single in the second inning to drive in the first run of the game. Pradat's run-scoring double made it 2-0.
Leading 2-1, the Panthers increased their lead to five runs. Pradat's single drove in Blane Swift to make it 6-1 in the top of the eighth.
Dallas came back in the bottom of the inning with two runs to cut the Panthers' lead to 6-3. The Panthers got the runs back in the top of the ninth on Butcher's solo home run and an RBI single from Pradat for the 8-3 final score.
The Panthers play at Oglethorpe on Tuesday, then host Washington & Lee on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
