ATLANTA, Ga. - 16th-ranked LaGrange improved its record to 13-1 with an 8-4 win at Oglethorpe on Tuesday. The Panthers defeated the Stormy Petrels (5-3) for the second time this season.
Casey Bell led LaGrange's 15-hit attack with four hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Tavin Thompson hit his second home run of the season as the first four batters in the Panthers' lineup combined for 10 hits and five RBIs.
Colin Barrett started on the mound and went four innings. He allowed three runs on six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out two.
Three relievers held Oglethorpe to one run and four hits over the final four innings. Austin Brown (2-0) gave up a run in three innings in picking up the win. Jonathan Fleckenstein and Austin Perez each threw a scoreless inning.
The Panthers open a three-game USA South series at Piedmont on Friday at 7 p.m.
