The LaGrange baseball team has risen to the No. 1 ranking in Division III. LC is on top in both the D3baseball.com/NCBWA and ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Top 25 polls.
The Panthers (38-4) are top-ranked for the first time in the NCAA era of the program. They are the USA South regular season and tournament champions this season. The 38 wins is a new school record.
"I am very excited and proud of what this group has been able to accomplish so far," Coach David Kelton said. "Being ranked No. 1 in the nation is a huge step forward for our program. This group of guys play unselfish baseball and they are committed to the TEAM. I am very proud of them and excited of what more we can accomplish together."
The Panthers will play in the NCAA Division III national tournament beginning with region play May 18 at a site to be determined. The eight region winners advance to the Division III Championship beginning May 26 in Appleton, Wisconsin.
