LaGrange travels to Emory on Tuesday for a showdown of ranked teams in the latest D3baseball.com Top 25 poll.
The Panthers (22-2) are ranked fifth in the poll and for the first time received three first place votes. Emory (17-4) was top-ranked for the past two weeks, but slipped to third after two losses at Covenant.
LC comes into the game on an eight game winning streak. During this streak, the Panthers are batting .361 as a team and have scored 73 runs. The pitching staff has posted a 2.06 earned run average and opponents are batting .207.
Senior right fielder Blane Swift is batting .469 over the last eight games with a home run and seven RBIs. Senior designated hitter Casey Bell has a home run and 12 RBIs, while junior center fielder James Poropatic has 10 RBIs.
The Panthers will host Hampden-Sydney in a three-game non-conference series at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium starting Friday at 7 p.m. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
