Coach Kendal Wallace has released the LaGrange men's basketball schedule for 2021-22. LC finished last season 7-4 during an abbreviated conference only schedule.
The Panthers tied for second in the USA South West Division with a 7-3 record. They lost 85-83 in overtime to Piedmont in the first round of the division tournament.
LaGrange tips off the season Nov. 8 against Pensacola Christian in Mariotti Gymnasium. The Panthers won 73-59 in 2016 in Mariotti in the last meeting with the Eagles. LC leads the series 21-13, including a 16-3 record in Mariotti.
The Panthers host the Wingate by Wyndham Classic on Nov. 13-14. LC will be joined by Huntingdon, Mississippi University for Women, and Sewanee. The Panthers Sewanee on Nov. 13. The two teams last met at the Birmingham-Southern Black Tie Classic in 2019, won by Sewanee 87-80. LC will be playing Mississippi University for Women for the first time.
LC faces Oglethorpe at Berry College on Nov. 20, then takes on Berry on Nov. 21. The Panthers travel to NCAA Division II West Alabama on Nov. 23 before returning to Mariotti against Emory on Dec. 1.
The Panthers play at NCAA Division I Jacksonville State in an exhibition game Dec. 8. After a road game Dec. 12 aginst Birmingham-Southern, LC returns to Mariotti on Dec. 15 against USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan in a non-conference game.
LaGrange closes out its non-conference schedule with two tournaments. The Panthers play Marywood (Pa.) and St. Mary's of Maryland in Naples, Fla. on Dec. 19-20. They face University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Birmingham-Southern at the Emory Shootout on Dec. 29-30. Whitewater has won two NCAA Division III national championships.
The Panthers open their 12-game home and home USA South West Division schedule with a rematch against Piedmont on the road Jan. 8, followed by a trip to Huntingdon on Jan. 12. LC opens its conference home schedule Jan. 18 against Piedmont.
LC will host last season's West Division champion Maryville on Jan. 23. The Panthers face Covenant, Berea, and Brevard to round out the conference schedule. The regular season ends Feb. 19 at Brevard. The first round of the USA South Tournament is Feb. 22. The semifinals and finals are Feb. 25-26.
