The Panthers lose to Maryville 97-77 in a CCS matchup (Feb. 2). This puts LC 0-2 against the Scots this regular season.
First half details
Tonight's game against the Scots, both teams' offenses started out firing on our cylinders. Both teams began the Friday night game running fast-paced offenses. In just the first three minutes, Maryville was leading 13-12 and the two teams were shooting lights out. That was true for the Panthers until the first media time-out. Out of the break, LC went on a three-minute scoring drought. This allowed Maryville to extend their lead to 18-12. The Panthers scoring continued to struggle. With nine minutes left in the half, Maryville was up 28-15. At this point in the game, LC was 0-10 from three and 31% from the field. At half, the Scots lead 48-32.
As a team, the Panthers shot 34% from the field and 8% from beyond the arc. Samuel Moss scored a team-high nine points, shooting 50% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.
Second half details
Despite being down, the Panthers continued to fight in the second half. Samuel Moss had his teammates on their feet and cheering when some quick LC ball movement left him wide open at the top of the arc for him to hit a three. The Panthers were able to claw their way back to being down 60-50 with only 11 minutes remaining. Hosts Maryville were just too much to handle tonight. The Scots won 97-77.
Top Panther performance
Samuel Moss scored a team-high 18 points, shooting 54% from the field and 50% from three. He also had four rebounds and an assist.
