The Panthers continue their run of home games with a rematch against the Blazers of Belhaven this Wednesday (Jan. 24), at 7 p.m.
The teams
LC is 11-8 (3-3 CCS) and most recently beat Huntingdon 100-96 (Jan. 20). Freshman Samuel Moss averages a team-high 16.6 points per game, while shooting a solid 53% from the field and 37% from three. The Blazers are 12-6 (4-2 CCS) and are coming off a 77-66 win over Berea (Jan. 21). Luke Couch averages a Belhaven-high 13.7 points per game. The 2022-23 CCS First Team All-Conference selection shoots 40% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc.
Recent history
The two teams have played each other once so far this season. In that game, the Panthers came away with a tight 83-76 road win (Jan. 2). The three standout freshmen lead the Panthers in scoring. Samuel Moss had 19 points, Shaun Nichols scored 18 and Kameron McCall had 16. The future of LC basketball is in good hands with these three young and talented guards. Jordan Marshall led the Blazers in scoring with 20 points against the Panthers. While the LC did pull out the win, this game was close until the final whistle.
