The men's basketball team hits the road to face CCS opponent Piedmont this Friday at 7 p.m. The women's team will be taking on Piedmont prior to the men's game.
The teams
The Panthers are 9-5 (1-0 CCS) and are coming off of an 83-76 win over Belhaven (Jan. 2). In that game, freshmen Shaun Nichols, Kameron McCall and Samuel Moss each put up phenomenal performances in the first CCS game of the season. Moss scored a team-high 19 points, followed by Nichols with 18 and McCall with 16. These three young Panthers have proven that they belong on the court, and they have been exciting to watchnthis season. The Lions of Piedmont are 8-4 and most recently lost to Greensboro College 83-65 (Jan. 2). Graduate student Ryan Jolly averages a team-high 23.6 points per game. Last season, Jolly led Piedmont in points, scoring average, rebounds, assists and steals. He would go on to be named to the 2022-23 CCS First Team. Piedmont looks to secure their first CCS win in this matchup against the Panthers.
The series
The Panthers are 30-14 all-time against Piedmont. The last time the two teams played, LC won 74-61 (Feb. 7, 2023).
