The game started back-and-forth, but LaGrange started to extend their slim lead in the middle of the half, as back-to-back layups by Brodie Scott and Cooper Dolhancyk extended the LC lead to nine with eight minutes gone in the half. The Panthers held a steady lead of around eight to 10 throughout the rest of the half, and Dolhancyk hit two free throws with 52 seconds left to extend the lead to 43-31 for the Panthers as they entered halftime.
LaGrange continued to hold their lead on the double digits throughout most of the half, as a Bershard Edwards and-one with 09:25 left put the Panthers up 70-55. Sewanee chipped into the LC lead, as with 1:38 left, the Panther lead was cut to three. Seniors Edwards and Zac Hill help close it out, as Hill made two free throws to put the Panther lead to six and out of reach and secure a bounce-back win for the Panthers.
Hill led the Panthers with 20 points, going eight of 11 from the field, as well as draining four free throws, including two clutch ones to ice the game. Edwards and Kyle Smith were big contributors, both scoring 13. Edwards also led the team with four assists. Camerin Lyons also was in double figures, scoring 11 on an efficient four of six shooting, as well as three free throws. Gabe Cofield led LC with seven rebounds, while also scoring four points.
LC will play the host Oglethorpe tomorrow at 4:00 PM on day two of the Jack Berkshire Classic as they look for back-to-back wins.
