LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange (15-7, 7-2 CCS) men's basketball will host Berea (12-9, 4-4 CCS) and Belhaven (10-9, 5-4 CCS) on back-to-back days in must-win games as they look to stay in the chase for the inaugural Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) regular season championship. They will take on BC at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 10 and the Blazers at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, with the latter serving as Senior Day. in historic Mariotti Gym.
The Panthers come into the weekend trailing Maryville (14-8, 8-2 CCS) by a half game for first place with the teams having uneven schedules remaining. The Scots have just two games left on the road with Berea and Piedmont while LC, in addition to their games this weekend, will travel to Covenant to close the regular season on February 15.
Berea comes in having won four of their last six but recently snapped a two-game streak. Following an 89-65 loss at Maryville (1/21) and 87-78 defeat to Covenant (1/25), they got off the snide with a 74-68 decision at Huntington (2/3) last time out.
For Belhaven, they had lost three in a row before posting back-to-back wins over Mississippi University for Women (83-79 on 2/1) and Covenant (76-69 on 2/4).
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BEREA
In a series that dates back to 2001-02, the Panthers have taken 10 of the 12 meetings, including the last six. That run stretches back to 2020 and got started with a 103-97 overtime victory. That is still both the most points by each team and combined in the history of the series. Most recently they claimed an 82-75 victory in Kentucky on January 7 of this year.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BELHAVEN
LaGrange holds a 3-1 lead all-time over the Blazers in a series that dates back to the 1964-65 campaign. The first of those was a 73-60 victory in 1965 followed by a 35-year gap. The teams resumed the series in 2000 with the Panthers notching an 83-77 decision and followed with a 72-63 victory the following year. Belhaven finally got on the board in the series this year with an 87-78 victory in Jackson, Mississippi on January 14.
