LAGRANGE, Ga. – League-leading LaGrange (13-6, 5-1 CCS) men's basketball looks to solidify their Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) lead as they host Huntingdon (1-18, 0-7 CCS) on Tuesday, January 31. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Mariotti Gym.
The Panthers return home having won five of their last six outings, defeating Maryville (88-84 on 1/6), Berea (72-65 on 1/7), Huntingdon (84-73 on 1/11), Covenant (74-61 on 1/17) and Piedmont (76-63). Their only loss in that time came at Belhaven by an 87-78 score on January 14.
It has been quite the opposite for the Hawks, however, as they come in having dropped their last 17 games. Most recently they fell 98-73 at Piedmont (1/21).
ALL-TIME SERIES
LaGrange holds a slim 45-43 advantage in the third-most prevalent series in program history, trailing only the 139 games against Piedmont (LC 95-44) and 89 against Shorter (SU 46-43). It is also one of just 12 series that date back to the 1950's, beginning in 1959-60.
The Panthers lost seven in a row to the Hawks from 1974-76 but rebounded for the next five in recent years to claim six straight from 1977-98. LC's longest win streak against Huntingdon came from 2015-18 when they won six in a row of their own. They have claimed four of the last five, including a sweep of the 2021-22 campaign, posting 78-76 and 94-75 decisions that season and an 84-73 victory earlier this season on January 11.
