LAGRANGE, Ga. – In a meeting of the top two teams in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS), LaGrange (11-5, 3-0 CCS) men's basketball travels to Belhaven (7-6, 3-1 CCS) in a an early season battle for first place on Saturday, January 14. Game time is set for 5 p.m. EST in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Panthers come in riding a three-game win streak and have won four of their last five dating to an 81-75 victory over Sewanee on December 29. Following a narrow 92-88 loss to Oglethorpe (12/30) they claimed three straight road games, taking out Maryville (88-84 on 1/6), Berea (82-75 on 1/7) and Huntington (84-73 on 1/11).
Belhaven enters after having a mini two-game win streak snapped by a 96-61 loss at Maryville on January 7. Previously they defeated Huntingdon (88-69 on 1/3) and Berea (82-80 on 1/6).
ALL-TIME SERIES
LaGrange holds a 3-0 lead all-time over the Blazers in a series that dates back to the 1964-65 campaign. The first of those was a 73-60 victory in 1965 followed by a 35-year gap. The teams resumed the series in 2000 with the Panthers notching an 83-77 decision and followed with a 72-63 victory the following year.
